

January 2010 Meeting of the Northwest Alabama Rebel Cruisers
The meeting was called to order at 4:15pm at Frosty Front in Guin.
Dotty Lyons gave the treasurer’s report and stated that there was a total of $75.13 in the account to start the 2010 year off.
Mike & Dotty talked about the Mental Health Christmas Party and thanked David Lane for playing Santa at the Christmas party and Thanked Raymond Davis for playing Santa in the Christmas Parades. Dotty also stated that she will pass out the thank you cards from the mental health clients at the next meeting.
Mike also discussed the car show for the Walk a Mile for a Child walk-a-thon which will be held in April. Dotty also asked that the boxes be given to the mental health clients a month earlier so that they can hold a contest to see who can decorate the boxes and be used to collect supplies for the Domestic Violence Task Force for the Marion County area.
Mike also stated that they will be planning to go to the Area Planning meeting on January 23rd in Tupelo. Anyone interested is to meet at 8:00am at the Shell station at the interstate to caravan to the museum in Tupelo. If anyone knows of any events that will be coming up can have these events posted to the upcoming calendar at the Area Planning meeting.
The Big Car Show for Winfield was discussed and volunteers were asked for to help with contacting companies for donations and sponsors for the car show. The show is scheduled to be held on June 11th-12th. Mike also asked for volunteers to help set up for the car show. There will be a meeting held on Saturday, January 16th at 1pm at Frosty Front in Guin to form a committee to help get sponsors and donations for the car show. Everyone interested is asked to attend.
Dotty Lyons was announced as the Member of the Month.

The club members also voted to continue to support the following causes: The Eldridge Children’s Home, Northwest Alabama Mental Health, and Marion County Domestic Violence Task Force. It was also discussed, and it was passed, to have something like a Spring Bash to help raise money to help a needy family during Christmas or some other time of year.
Also after the cruise in and meet, about 15 people went to the skating rink in Winfield. We had a blast and are making plans to go back. We are planing what we call an invasion day, where the club goes to somewhere and invades the place to have a good time. Watch the web and our new face book page for more info.


February 2010 Meeting of the Northwest Alabama Rebel Cruisers
The meeting was called to order at 4pm at Frosty Front in Guin.
Dotty Lyons gave the treasurer’s report and stated that there was a total of $83.78 in the account to start February 2010 off. $30 was donated to supply the hamburgers and hot dogs for the Mental Health Valentine Party held on Friday, February 12th. Dotty also reminded everyone that stuffed animals, small toys and individually wrapped candy is still needed for the Easter party for the Mental Health clients.
Mike discussed upcoming events. On March 13th will be the No-Limits Kustom show in Guin at Jimbo’s from 8am-3pm. There is a $20 registration fee. Trophies will include Top 10 Ridez, club participation award, 50/50 drawing and more. The Northwest Alabama Rebel Cruisers Cruise in will start at 3pm at Frosty Front in Guin. March 27th is Fulton Fun Day. There will be a $10 entry fee for those interested in racing their automobiles. This is for bragging rights only. April 3rd is the 1st Annual Reins of Life Youth Ranch Spring Festival to be held in Carbon Hill at 15200 County Road 63 N (the old Frontier Steak House ranch; Fish Hatchery Road). There will be Arts & Crafts, Motorcycle Show/Ride, Car Show, and Music & Food. Registration for the motorcycle or car show is $25 per driver and $10 per extra rider. This includes lunch and a T-shirt. April 10th is the Cruise in for the Northwest Alabama Rebel Cruisers to be held at Joe Breeden’s shop. April 17th is the Walk a Mile for a Child walk-a-thon which will be held at the Ivan K. Hill Park large pavilion in Winfield by the Marion County Domestic Violence Task Force. Dotty stated that anyone interested in donating any amount to help raise $250, so that the Cruisers would be named one of the Walk a Mile sponsors. Anyone interested in donating needs to contact Dotty Lyons before March 17th. The Task Force will be handling the plaques and trophies. Teams will walk the track and be the judges for the cars and bikes. Walkers, cars, and bikes will register from 8-9am. All proceeds will be donated to Safeplace. April 30th-May 2nd is the Blue Suede Cruise in Tupelo, MS at the car museum.
The Summer Blowout Car Show was discussed and Dotty stated that RockAuto.com wants to be a possible sponsor for the show and donate items for door prizes and giveaways. Allison asked for volunteers to help run the games for the car show. Dotty stated that Ace Hardware has agreed to lend us one of their kennels to use as a jail. To put someone in jail would be $5 and the person in jail would have to try to get people to donate money to get them out of jail or serve 30 minutes in jail. If you put someone in jail that is working a game or parking or some other job, the person putting someone in jail will have to cover the other person’s job for the duration of incarceration. Mike stated that Mayor Seagraves has offered the use of the old National Guard Armory on Friday, July 2nd to be used to host a dance to kick off the Summer Blowout. The dance will start around 5 or 6pm. There was also a discussion of a parade to be held on Saturday, July 3rd. The parade route will be the same as the Christmas Parade. Dotty stated that she went online and found a company that had the cheapest prices for the plaques for the car show and anyone interested may look at the printouts for more information. Wayne Sisty has the job of finding non-partial judges for the car show. Mike also discussed the swap meet that was held in Athens a couple of weeks ago.
Raymond (Tim) Davis was announced as the Member of the Month for February.
Joe Breeden won the 50/50 drawing and won $31 and donated the money toward the $250 sponsorship of Walk a Mile for a Child. There has been $151 donated to date with $99 left to be raised.
